Guideline of Submissions Standards

 

The e- Lex Sportiva Journal Guideline

File Size
Articles for this publication should normally be 4-7.000 words in length. Authors may submit disk copies by email.

Abstracts and Keywords
Please include an abstract of your article in maximum 200 words. All selected articles will appear with the abstract included.
A maximum of 6 keywords should also be included.

Links to External Sources
The journal team will provide hypertext mark-up for articles. However, contributors may, if they wish, insert their own hypertext links including cross references to other materials on the World Wide Web using their URL (Uniform Resource Locator) addresses. These links should not be placed in footnotes but within the body of the article in brackets after the words that are to be linked to them. All links should also appear in a Links section that should appear after the References section.
This Links section may be subdivided into Materials, Organisations and People.

Characteristics
- Article should be written on a current topic, containing a specific innovation in the approach to the studied topic / issue;
- The article should reflect the results of research, based on an analysis of theoretical constructs, regulations, enforcement of materials;
- The material should not only be descriptive (articles, most of which comprises reproducing regulations will be rejected);
- The material must be characterized by factual and historical accuracy;
- You must pay attention to the careful use of the borrowed material, the accuracy of citation.

Foot note and references
a) In order to keep footnotes to a minimum, references to sources should appear in down body of the article, following Law and Sports science conventions.
Where an article/author is quoted directly e.g. Ponkin and Shevchenko (2005) argue ...’, the year of publication alone should appear in parentheses.
If an article/author is referenced indirectly e.g. "many sources indicate this is not true in  footnote with: surname(s), then the year of publication (should appear in parentheses), title article (with the Journal which published it), or book, publisher: city and the page reference. If it relates to a specific part of the text should all appear in parentheses.

If there is more than one reference to work by the same author in the same year, the references should be distinguished as below:
Olga Shevchenko (2010), “Termination of Labor Contract […]. Op.cit, p. 344  and if have continuous same Author:
Olga Shevchenko, Ibid, p. 345 and if continuous same Author Only:
Ibid, p.346 and if also continuous:
Id, p.345.

b) Cases and page numbers within cases
Where is possible, please cite a law reports series that is widely available. Versions available in hard copy (All ER, WLR) are preferred over online versions, in the book or series with reference  with number and page.
On the first occasion cases are mentioned, cite thus:
‘Despite assertions to the contrary, the Court of Appeal judgment in Wooldridge v Sumner [1963] 2 QB 43 is not authority for the proposition that…’
On subsequent occasions only the first party’s name (or, in a criminal case, the defendant’s name) should be provided, without brackets, i.e.:
‘In Wooldridge the Court of Appeal was not positing reckless disregard as the standard of care in sports injury cases…’
If one is quoting directly from, or referring to a specific passage of, a judgment please use single quotation marks and provide the citation in full, i.e.:
‘The answer seems to be, persons who are so closely and directly affected by my act that I ought reasonably to have them in contemplation as being affected when I am directing my mind to the acts or omissions called into question’ (Donoghue v Stevenson (1932) AC 562, at p. 580 per Ld Atkin).

Cases only available electronically may be cited thus:

The abbreviations 's.', ‘Sch.’ Or ‘Art.’ should be used only following the title of an Act or Directive; otherwise they should be written in full, in which case the 's' in ‘section’ is lower case unless it begins a sentence.

d) Links to Uniform Resource Locators (URLs)
When quoting a URL within an article it should appear between a less-than sign and a greater-than sign e.g.  http://www.warwick.ac.uk/..

Bibliography
A full citation of all references, listed alphabetically by (first) author’s surname, should appear in the bibliography according to the form below (please refrain from any use of underlining or italics).  Case names, Statutes, Directives, etc. need not appear in the bibliography, but as footnote in down body of article.

Articles Format
All text in articles should be in Times New Roman Font, double spaced, 12pt.
Please note it is very important that the headings used in conformity with the specifications below: the computer software translates these into a particular format for online publication and a failure to use them correctly will lead to delays in publication and the journal, incurring unnecessary expense.

Headings should appear as follows:
Article Title (Times New Roman, 18pt bold)
Author(s) Names (Times New Roman, 16pt bold) followed immediately by job title, departmental and institutional affiliation (Times New Roman, 12 pt).
Abstract (Times New Roman, 12 pt italics)
Keywords (Time New Roman, 12 pt)
Main Heading (Times New Roman, 12 pt bold)
Sub Heading (Times New Roman, 12pt italics)
Headings below the subheading level are discouraged. If absolutely necessary they should appear in italics without any numbering.

Miscellaneous
Please note that only a single space is necessary after full stops and other punctuation.
Double quotation marks should be used.
Spelling should comply with British, not American forms, e.g. -ise, not ize, as in nationalise.
Numbers one to twelve and per cent to be spelt out. Years to be given in numerical form (“the 1988 Olympic Games” “the late 1930s”).
